Allergan to Acquire Bonti

Allergan has agreed to acquire Bonti, a privately held clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of novel, fast-acting neurotoxin programs for aesthetic and therapeutic applications. Following completion of the acquisition, Allergan will obtain global rights to Bonti’s pipeline consisting of two botulinum neurotoxin serotype E (BoNT/E) programs currently in Phase 2 development: EB-001A (aesthetic) and EB-001T (therapeutic).

Bonti, a privately held, clinical-stage biotechnology company, announced topline results of its SHINE-1 (Scar Healing Improvement with Neurotoxin E) Phase 2a clinical trial, which evaluated the company’s EB-001A for scar reduction following Mohs surgery. EB-001, the active ingredient in EB-001A, is a novel botulinum neurotoxin serotype E (BoNT/E) with a unique clinical profile, characterized by a faster onset of action (within 24 hours) and a shorter duration of activity (two to four weeks) compared to botulinum neurotoxin serotype A (BoNT/A) products.

EB-001 is a novel serotype E botulinum neurotoxin with a unique efficacy profile, characterized by fast onset of action (about 24 hours) and short duration of effect (about 4 weeks).
