It is typically used to treat skin laxity and help remodel aging, sagging and crepey skin.
The specially formulated injectable moisturizer has taken over beauty Tik Tok, accruing over 197 million views, and some are professing it as the replacement for fillers and Botox. Clinical studies on the injectable have been positive, and Allergan Aesthetics recently received FDA approval for SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM, a smooth, injectable hyaluronic acid gel that improves skin smoothness with results lasting through six months with optimal treatment. The results of Profhilo treatments can last up to 6-9 months, however, this may vary by patient and depends on skin type and age.

Differences Between Profhilo & Traditional Fillers
While Profhilo and fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, both have different outcomes. Face filler is typically used to create volume in a noninvasive way of contouring. Profhilo does not add volume or structure to the face. Its purpose is to rejuvenate the skin from the inside out.
Laxity, dermal thinning and wrinkles formation are major aspects of skin aging and are strictly related to a marked reduction in hyaluronic acid content in the extracellular matrix. Most hyaluronic acid-based products used in aesthetic medicine are based on chemical cross-linking that substantially modifies the natural structure.
Profhilo is a novel hyaluronic acid preparation based on stabilized, cooperative, hybrid complexes produced with NAHYCO Hybrid Technology to stabilize the hyaluronic acid without the use of cross-linking agents.
Using extremely small needles in predetermined locations, Profhilo is injected just beneath the skin. It is comparatively painless, and prior to treatment, topical painkillers are rarely used. The actual treatment just takes a little over ten minutes. To achieve the best results on the face, only five injection places are required on each side.
The effectiveness of Profhilo in improving the extracellular environment has been demonstrated in multiple studies and its use in aesthetic medicine has produced positive results in terms of skin vitality and turgidity without any noteworthy major or minor side effects.

Profhilo in the United States
Currently, only Allergan Aesthetics offers hyaluronic acid intradermal microdroplet injections in the United States. Its SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM recently aquired FDA approval to improve skin smoothness with results lasting through six months with optimal treatment.

In a randomized, multicenter, evaluator-blinded, controlled pivotal clinical study cited by Allergan Aesthetics, 58% and 56% of patients treated with SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM saw a ≥ 1 point improvement on the Allergan Cheek Smoothness Scale (ACSS) at one month and six months respectively. In a patient-reported satisfaction with skin questionnaire, 63% of patients were satisfied with how radiant their facial skin looked at six months compared with 11% before treatment.
At six months, 72% were satisfied with how hydrated their facial skin looked at six months compared to 24% before treatment. Additionally, 69% were satisfied with how refreshed their facial skin made them look at six months compared to 16% before treatment. At month six, 83% were satisfied with how healthy their facial skin looked compared to 38% before treatment.
