As tools such as online banking, shopping and travel booking have become commonplace, more and more consumers expect the same convenience from their physicians. Telemedicine offers “immense” advantages to patients, says Karen Edison, MD, chair of the department of dermatology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. She has been offering telehealth services for more than 20 years and also served as director of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) 2019 teledermatology course.

Avizia Partners With MLS Telehealth

Telemedicine providers Avizia and MLS Telehealth have joined forces to expand their virtual care platforms. The Avizia platform combines video devices with software solutions to streamline care coordination, provider collaboration and patient engagement; MLS Telehealth is a network of U.S. trained, board-certified physicians covering primary care and most specialties in all 50 states. SkyMD Debuts Telehealth Platform

SkyMD has announced the full-scale rollout of its telehealth application: a platform that connects dermatologists to their patients. Since its soft launch in October 2015, SkyMD has seen growth in the application’s usage and effectiveness. Thousands of patients are registered, and more than 50 dermatologists actively use the platform, with licensed providers across 25 states.

Dermatologist Launches Telemedicine Website for Acne Patients

Jamie Altman, MD, owner of Aesthetic Dermatology Associates, PC, in Philadelphia, has launched www.acnecaremd.com, a secure telemedicine website designed to provide acne care to patients across Pennsylvania via a web-based platform. The site was designed to offer patients direct access to physicians when needed and to help ensure better compliance with treatment plans.
