On July 30, 2025, the supervisory board of Symrise AG announced the appointment of Michael Friede to the executive board. He will also take over as president of the company’s Scent & Care segment.
Friede most recently served as the chief executive officer of Brenntag Specialties, leading the life science and material science specialty chemicals segments globally. He has also held executive positions at Akzo Nobel N.V., Covestro AG and Covestro Elastomers SAS. He holds both a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in business administration.
“We are very pleased to announce that Michael Friede will join us as a member of the executive board,” said chairman Michael König. “He brings many years of broad market knowledge and a high level of industry-specific expertise in various growth areas. Additionally, he has proven international experience, making him an excellent choice for Symrise as a fast-growing, globally operating company.”
Symrise’s Scent & Care segment includes the company’s activities in fragrance applications, aroma molecules and cosmetic ingredients. This segment of the business generates annual sales of approximately €2 billion, according to the company’s press release.
