Jenner wrote in the comment section of a woman’s TikTok, where she asked what breast implants Jenner received, interested in the natural look and how she obtained her specific voluptuous definition. Jenner wrote: “445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!! Silicone!!!! Garth Fisher!!!! Hope this helps lol.”
What do these selections mean and how should you approach your surgeon on obtaining this desired look?
Half under the muscle silicone implants means that the pectoralis muscle, a group of muscles located on the front part of the chest, covers the implant on the upper portion, while the lower portion of the implant is covered by breast tissue only, says Gina Maccarone, cosmetic surgeon and founder of the Surgeonista.
Patients with a naturally higher breast “footprint,” as Maccarone describes, will often have implants placed fully under the muscle or dual plane, meaning half under the muscle, like Jenner, while patients with breast tissue that is lower on the chest or who participate in body building or weightlifting, will have implants placed over the muscle.
RealSelf plastic surgeon Yannis Alexandrides, MD, FACS says choosing a half under implant gives less of a transition from chest to breast and a more natural appearance to the cleavage, concealing the edge of the implant. Especially for people who are slimmer, like Jenner, he says it's a good technique to use.
"Putting an implant fully under the muscle is very unusual for aesthetic surgery," Alexandrides says. "It means a more extensive surgery; my preferred method is placing the implant partially under the muscle."
The choice to implant silicone breasts has become more popular since they were FDA approved in 2006 and extensively studied for safety thereafter. There are multiple options for density of the silicone implants, however, depending on the patient’s desired look and feel. Silicone implants also contain a cohesive gel, Alexandrides says, meaning that they not only look natural, but also feel natural as they move with the movement of the body.

Jenner received 445cc as the volume or size of the implant. The choice in implant size is very individualized, and depends on not just preference but the body type, including the shape of the rib cage, chest width, height and weight that all play a role in how a certain size implant will look on each person. Most implants come in size increments of 30-50cc, starting at 100cc to over 1000cc, says Maccarone.
Slimmer women, Alexandrides says, will often see a greater increase in size, as the look on implants depends on a number of factors including not only body frames, as Maccarone mentions, but also how much breast the patient already had before having the implant inserted. Jenner's implant, he would venture to say, is about a DD cup size.
“Cup size is variable, but I tell patients that 300cc is roughly equal to one cup size,” Maccarone says.
The profile of implants Jenner opted for was moderate, with the range of profile options to choose from being low, moderate and high. Moderate profile is typically semi-flat in shape but with slightly narrower width, while low profile implants have a flatter shape with a greater width. High profile implants have a more rounded shape instead of flat with the narrowest width.
As a cosmetic surgeon, Maccarone only uses moderately high or high profile implants to keep the implant pocket tighter long term and give the best shape appearance. Depending on anatomy, level of activity and the patient’s natural breast position, however, the surgeon will choose the best position for implants so that they look most natural to the person’s shape.
It is the job of a plastic surgeon to do a proper consultation before surgery in order to find the best size for each patient, relevant to the cup size they would like, how much cleavage they want to show and how much lift they wish to have. All of these are important parameters to consider and help the surgeon select the correct size implant, Alexandrides adds.
Choosing a surgeon who has managed many different body types is an important factor in picking the right artist who can decipher what might look best according to a particular body, who understands aesthetic goals, expectations and reasons for considering surgery to achieve the best look for you.
“A breast augmentation may sound like a simple operation, however, a very good result depends on the surgeon, the type of implant, the decisions they make on the technique to use and the size and profile of the implant,” Alexandrides says.
