In the November/December issue—our last issue in 2025—we’re proud to announce the winners and finalists of MedEsthetics’ first-ever Readers’ Choice Awards. From top skincare lines to standout devices and innovations, these selections reflect the voices of our community.

We also dive into the emerging frontier of psychodermatology, exploring the intimate connection between our mental health and how it manifests on the skin. We interviewed the creators of XOMD—a skincare line designed to support emotional wellbeing alongside skin health. The formula uses botanicals like jasmine and carob to stimulate the skin's sensory system and promote an oxytocin-like response. This issue unpacks why treating the skin without addressing psychological wellness may be missing half the story in modern aesthetics.

We also discovered that neurotoxin ingredient awareness is lacking among patients. As skincare consumers grow increasingly ingredient-conscious, the same level of awareness isn’t extending to neurotoxin treatments, a new study reveals. But while neurotoxins on the market share a core mechanism, their purification processes, stabilizers and accessory proteins differ significantly—differences that may affect results and immune response. Ingredient transparency isn't just for topicals anymore—it's essential across the entire aesthetics spectrum.

Lastly, as merger and acquisitions activity is increasingly taking place among aesthetics and skincare brands, we laid out exit plans for medspa and practice owners in the industry over in the business consult section. Planning your exit is very important in an ever-evolving industry like aesthetics, even if you have no plans to transition in the near future!

Our last issue for 2025 is packed with impactful insights, new data and fresh takes. We hope you enjoyed 2025 as much as we did!

We'll see you in 2026.

Cheers,

Jamie O’Toole
