Popular direct-to-consumer body care brand, MAËLYS, released a survey of its customer base behavior in light of the rise in demand of GLP-1 medications as they continue to reshape the weight-management landscape.
MAËLYS report concluded seeing an adjacent — and still underreported — shift in skin health, revealing data that speaks not only to the rise of GLP-1 usage, but to a broader gap between rapid body transformation and how skin adapts.

A few key findings:
- Nearly half of respondents have explored prescription weight-management medications (including GLP-1s)—more than double the rate of the general U.S. population
- More than half experienced major body changes in the past three years
- 80% said their bodies changed faster than their skin could adapt
- Nearly 7 in 10 felt unprepared for how their skin would respond
- 90% noticed visible changes in skin firmness
This is translating into a meaningful shift in behavior. Nearly 95% of respondents said this period marked the moment body care became essential, not optional.
MAËLYS plays a role in this journey:
- More than half of customers discovered the brand during a body transformation
- Among GLP-1 users, 8 in 10 report using MAËLYS to support their skin throughout the process
While this data is highly relevant to the ongoing GLP-1 conversation, it also points to a broader trend: consumers are navigating faster, more dramatic body changes than ever before and are increasingly seeking targeted body care solutions to support skin resilience, firmness, and recovery.
