Global taste and nutrition company Kerry Group and the Monell Chemical Senses Center have established the Stephen Manheimer Scholarship in Flavor Science. This scholarship is intended to support the next generation of flavor scientists in advancing the understanding of taste perception, bridging research perspectives between academia and industry and driving real-word applications.

Stephen Manheimer, best known for his integral role in the growth of his family’s company, J. Manheimer Inc., served as executive vice president at Kerry Group for nearly two decades until his retirement in August 2024. He first became associated with Monell in the 1970s, later joining their International Advisory Council in 2001 and Monell’s Board in 2018. In 2017, Manheimer received the Ron Deal Award of Excellence from the International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades (IFEAT).

The Manheimer Scholarship is designed for students pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in flavor science with an interest in pursuing a career in the flavor or food industry. The scholarship includes funding for up to two years of study, including a research project at the Monell Center.
