As individuals undergo rapid weight loss following GLP-1 use or other weight loss medication, many experience facial volume loss and increased skin elasticity. Loss of collagen, elastin and fatty acids lead to facial volume loss due to age as well.
The trial examined the combination of Restylane Lyft or Contour with Sculptra for cheek augmentation and correcting contour deficiencies in patients with medication-driven weight loss.
According to a Jan. 14 press release, patients were treated with Sculptra and either Restylane Lyft or Contour for their first treatment and a second treatment of Sculptra. At week four, patients had an optional touch-up of Restylane Lyft or Contour, and at week eight an optional Sculptra treatment.
At week four of the trial, 80% of patients noticed their facial balance was improved, and within three months after patients’ final treatment, they showed improved mid-face shape and contouring, along with improvements in cheek wrinkles.
Galderma continued the trial up to month nine, per a July 17 press release. About 88.6% of patients felt they looked better than before the injection regimen, and 85.7% said their face looked less gaunt/sunken.
