“We now understand more and more the role oxidation plays on the skin’s DNA and how this can accelerate the aging process and drive the development of redness, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles,” Obagi says. “Oxidation is being recognized as the main driving force for internal systemic diseases as well–it is so important that we protect the largest organ in the body, the skin.”

Obagi says she performed extensive reviews of key scientific articles featuring advanced information in the field of hyperpigmentation, melasma, rosacea, sensitive skin and oxidative stress to create the SuzanObagiMD collection.

“The most common issues patients present with are hyperpigmentation and trouble with sensitive skin,” Obagi says.

The Super Antioxidant Serum within the collection includes encapsulated silymarin; argireline–a wrinkle-smoothing hexapeptide; tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate–a stabilized form of vitamin C; amino acid ergothioneine; hydrogenated lecithin; and green tea leaf extract.

Obagi says the serum protects the skin against oxidative damage caused by ultraviolet rays, visible light, high energy visible light, infrared light and pollution.

Lastly, in the SuzanObagiMD collection is Moisture Restore, a replenishing moisturizer to maintain a healthy skin barrier.  It contains hyaluronic acid, lecithin and plankton extract, peptide palmitoyl tripeptide-37, and oat and squalane lipids.

“Patients have seen improvement in as little as two weeks with the Super Antioxidant Serum,” Obagi says. “The Moisture Restore gives immediate hydration to the skin and continues to hydrate for over eight hours.”
