Sun protection is essential for safeguarding the skin from long-term damage caused by harmful UV rays, including hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and signs of premature aging. UV rays penetrate the skin, triggering an inflammatory response. Incorporating bioactive ingredients that support the skin’s natural processes has been found to protect the skin from UV damage and restore its health.

Antioxidants, particularly, work by strengthening the skin’s natural defenses, repairing damage and reducing the visible signs of sun exposure. As global warming indirectly makes UV rays more intense, sun protection beyond SPF becomes crucial; however, aesthetic treatments and procedures make the skin even more vulnerable to environmental damage, making protection vital.

After aesthetic treatments, the skin is often in a state of recovery, with the outer layers compromised or freshly treated, making it more sensitive to UV radiation. This increased vulnerability can lead to greater risk of irritation, pigmentation change and long-term skin damage if not properly protected from the sun.

Although it's February when you’re reading this, UV rays are still prominent in winter, as they can reflect off snow, ice and other surfaces, intensifying exposure. Even on cloudy days or when temperatures are low, UV rays can cause skin damage, making protection essential year-round.

In this issue we delve into ingredients shown to protect against UV rays and support epidermis cell function to prevent discoloration and premature aging.

Cheers to sunny days and winter melting away,
