Merz Aesthetics, the creator of Radiesse and Ultherapy, launched a new syringe for Belotero, its biomimetic hyaluronic acid treatment for wrinkles. Debuting in Europe first, the syringe is ergonomically engineered and marks a major update to the product after 20 years in the market.
The new syringe for Belotero features a new grip to make handling more comfortable during procedures, per a Nov. 3 press release. It also has the ability to adapt to multiple angles so that there is control during treatment, and also a Luer Lock system for needle security and safer administration. These features contribute to the ergonomically engineered design, intended to fit the human body and its movements.
“From a design perspective, the new Belotero syringe delivers both aesthetics and functionality, particularly with its excellent haptics and ergonomic finger-grip,” said Tatjana Pavicic, MD, a dermatologist in Germany. “The anti-slip, signature color-coded silicone surfaces enhance user experience, providing easy identification, practitioner comfort, and stability during procedures.”
While the old syringe is still safe for use, the new syringe will launch across Europe starting with Balance Lidocaine, an injectable biodegradable implant intended for filling of facial wrinkles and folds as well as for lip enhancement. Soft Lidocaine, intended for filling perioral fine lines will also be availble, along with Intense Lidocaine, used to fill deep facial wrinkles and folds as well as to restore and enhance soft tissue volume.
The new syringe will roll out globally after the Europe launch.
