Beyond Conditioning: One Technology for Hair, Skin and Body Care

800x450 Lead Image C&t

ProCondition 22 (INCI: Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine) has been valued by many  formulators for its hair-conditioning and smoothing benefits, but few know that its  capabilities extend well beyond hair care. This multifunctional and sustainable  ingredient also moisturizes skin, stabilizes cleansing systems, and helps create elegant  emulsions suited for skin care, body care, and men's grooming formulations. At the core of its performance is ProCondition 22's ability to self-assemble into lamellar  structures that mimic the natural architecture of skin and hair. These structures deliver  conditioning and moisturization while creating a light, non-greasy and luxurious sensory  profile. The result is a single, silicone-free, quat-free, and ethoxylate-free ingredient that  can replace multi-component systems across categories that traditionally require  separate materials for conditioning, emulsification, and stabilization.

On hair, ProCondition 22 smooths lifted cuticles, seals the hair shaft and reduces  strand-to-strand friction, restoring hair damaged by heat and chemical treatment. In  testing across Chinese hair, European brown hair and multi-ethnic curly (3A) hair,  ProCondition 22 delivered wet combability comparable to BTAC in a natural  conditioning system, along with frizz control and a smooth finish, on each hair type  tested. On skin, it provided immediate and long-lasting moisturization across skin types  without a greasy after-feel, in both leave-on and rinse-off formats. In surfactant systems,  ProCondition 22 holds up under dilution and helps stabilize the formula, giving cleansing  systems and men's grooming formulas the same conditioning benefit built into a  shampoo or leave-on treatment. Typical use levels are 1 to 5% in a rinse-off conditioner,  0.5 to 3% in a leave-on product, 0.2 to 5% in skincare emulsions, and 0.5% in a  surfactant system, with formula pH held between 3.5 and 6.5.

Sustainability is built into the design of ProCondition 22 and has been trusted by  sustainably minded formulators for years. It is brassica-derived and is manufactured  through a one-step transamidation process that lowers Global Warming Potential  compared to SAPDMA, with 83% USDA certified biobased feedstock and a Natural  Origin Index of 0.80. The finished ingredient is readily biodegradable, non-irritating to  skin or eyes, and carries Vegan, Halal, Kosher, and China IECIC listings. Full  certification and green chemistry documentation is available directly from Inolex.

From hair treatments to skin care serums, body care, and grooming products,  ProCondition 22 enables simplified, high-performance formulation across categories. It  can also be paired with complementary conditioning technologies for enhanced  performance.
