How to Achieve the Flipped Ends Trend Taking Over Instagram

Feb 24th, 2021
Unite Hair

From award show red carpets to Instagram’s trendiest influencers, the 1960s-inspired flipped ends trend is popping up everywhere.

This retro hairstyle, which also had a revival in the 1990s, is a fun and fresh way to switch up your clients’ style for Spring. Below are several breakdowns for achieving the on-trend look using a variety of UNITE Hair products.

Dramatic Flip

Celebrity hairstylist, Hayley Heckmann (@hayleyheckmann) uses UNITE’s SMOOTH&SHINE Styling Cream to add a sleek, frizz-free finish to Natasha Bure’s flipped ends.

Retro Flip

Celebrity hairstylist, Clayton Hawkins (@claytonhawkins) added root volume and texture throughout his retro-take on flipped ends using UNITE’s EXPANDA Dust, and 7SECONDS Glossing Spray for extra shine.

Subtle Flip

Heckmann added a subtle flip to @fatherkels’ blowout and sprayed GO365 3-in-1 Hairspray to lock-in the style and tame flyaways. For added shine and smoothing, Heckmann applied UNITE’s Argan oil-infused SMOOTH&SHINE Styling Cream.

Bold Flip

To achieve Bebe Rexha’s 2020 People’s Choice Awards look, celebrity hairstylist Melissa D (@meli_dee) prepped Bebe’s hair with 7SECONDS Detangler, and then applied U Oil from mid-lengths to ends to smooth hair and add shine. To lock the flip in place, she finished with GO365 Hairspray and 7SECONDS Glossing Spray for high-shine and to control flyaways.
