Syensqo recently announced a five-year partnership with Bota Bio, a leading industrial biotech firm, to co-develop high-performance biomimetic ingredients for hair and scalp care. This collaboration reportedly supports Syensqo’s strategy to expand into bio-based technologies and sustainable beauty solutions.

By leveraging Bota Bio’s advanced protein engineering platform and Syensqo’s four decades of hair care expertise, the partnership aims to create breakthrough ingredients addressing hair repair and growth. The initiative is led by Syensqo’s Renewable Materials and Biotechnology Platform and supported by Syensqo Ventures, the group’s startup-focused innovation arm.

“Thanks to our shared business vision and development goals, the partnership with Bota Bio aligns with our leadership in innovation and underscores the pivotal role of biotechnology in the rapid expansion of our specialty ingredients portfolio,” said Thomas Canova, head of R&I at Syensqo. 

"Bota is actively engaged in developing advanced strains and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance the scalability of innovative hair care ingredients production," Cheryl Cui, Ph.D., CEO of Bota Bio, added.
