On October 5, 2026, professional skincare brand Epicutis announced the appointment of James Y. Wang, MD, MBA, as the brand’s chief medical officer. Dr. Wang, who has chaired the Epicutis scientific advisory board since 2025, will guide the brand’s clinical research program and expand scientific education for physicians and aesthetic professionals.

Dr. Wang is a board-certified physician in dermatology and dermatopathology. He is the founder of Metropolis Dermatology, which has five locations across California offering medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Further, Dr. Wang earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

“What drew me to Epicutis was the scientific rigor behind it,” said Dr. Wang. Most skincare starts with a trend and works backward. Epicutis starts with novel molecules and real skin biology, then builds the product around the evidence. That’s the standard I hold in my own practice, and I’m excited to help bring that science to more providers and their patients.”

According to the brand’s press release, Dr. Wang will use his role as chief medical officer to evaluate emerging research, inform the design of new clinical studies, advise on product development and lead educational programs.

“When I started Epicutis, the idea was simple: let the science lead,” said Maxwell Stock, founder and chief executive officer of Epicutis and Signum Biosciences. “Dr. Wang has been one of the strongest voices for that principle since he joined our advisory board. Bringing him in as chief medical officer puts a practicing dermatologist at the center of how we develop products, run clinical studies and support the professionals who recommend Epicutis to their patients. As we bring new technologies out of the lab and into more practices around the world, his judgement will help shape what comes next.”
