The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery provided an avenue for leaders to share research and education regarding clinical care in the field of medical laser and energy-based applications at its 44th annual conference on April 24-26 in Orlando, Florida. Exhibitors like SomaCell and Hydrafacial educated regulatory agencies, providers and the public on the latest advancements in their modalities.
SomaCell Emerges as Non-Invasive Solution for Skin Rejuvenation Across All Skin Types
Kim Laudati said as the founder and president of SomaCell she enjoyed the opportunity to provide education on what her and her team do and who they are at the conference. SomaCell, she said, held a unique space as a non-surgical face lifting and body sculpting technology that uses acoustic waves instead of heat to avoid dermal wounding.
“[Heat] creates issues with pain, downtime, bruising and limitations such as skin color or ethnicity and sun exposure,” Laudati said. “Not so with SomaCell.”
At the conference for laser medicine and surgery, Laudati explained to attendees that for those seeking lasers as a solution, SomaCell treatment can be a starting point to minimize the amount of laser treatments to see desired results, but also an alternative to lasers for skin with less severe textural issues.
SomaCell builds up the strength of facial layers for laser treatments, she added, providing a bridge to tying existing procedures together.
“Instead of doing 2-5 laser resurfacing treatments once per month until a satisfactory end point has been achieved, 1-2 laser treatments [can achieve results] post SomaCell,” Laudati said, making the device an effective combination treatment or laser alternative, she added.
CE certified, and FDA cleared for repairing and treating connective tissue in the face along with cellulite and body skin, SomaCell is for young patients seeking prevention and also patients looking to repair and maintain, she said. The device works on all skin tones, making the modality versatile, she explained, as lasers, ultrasound and other heat-driven modalities tend to work better on lighter skin only.
“SomaCell does not damage nor destroy cells, it enhances, repairs and stimulates new growth,” Laudati said, “SomaCell sound waves do not technically go very deep but we create a ‘pebble in the pond’ effect, which enables us to gain positive effects from connective tissue, not just the skin.
The SomaCell launched at IT Intelligent Treatment in 2025 because it is synergistic with many existing surgical alternatives, including neurotoxins, laser treatment, RF, RF/MN, IPL and Biologics [1].
When treating cellulite and body skin laxity, it is very important to be able to sufficiently treat the target with multi-layered effects, Laudati said. SomaCell reduces the appearance of cellulite by increasing metabolic activity, improving blood flow and enhancing lymphatic drainage to tighten and lift the skin [1].
Hydrafacial’s newest booster, the Hydralock HA, is clinically proven to increase hydration by three times, deliver 24-hour moisture and glow and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 63% after one treatmentHydrafacial Showcases New Hydralock Booster and Syndeo Device, Merging Digital Innovation with Proven Skincare Results
Hydrafacial also made an appearance at the conference, showcasing the Hydrafacial Syndeo device – the company’s most advanced delivery system yet, said Lindsey Vanderbilt, head of North America marketing at Hydrafacial. The device was built with cloud-based software to develop an upgraded delivery system that blends the Hydrafacial core treatment with digital capabilities to supply providers with key learnings and insights to better analyze consumer behavior and aid providers in understanding their clients’ needs [2].
Attendees who were interested in learning more lined up to receive Hydrafacial treatment powered by this innovation as well as Hydrafacial’s newest booster, the Hydralock HA– clinically proven to increase hydration by three times, deliver 24-hour moisture and glow and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 63% after one treatment, Vanderbilt said.
