Within iS Clinical’s new Daily Dynamic Hydrator complex are antioxidants, and not just vitamin C, but extremozymes—an enzyme produced by plants, specifically organisms naturally equipped to thrive in extreme environments that typically present risks for human skin. Their properties protect the skin's DNA and proteins from environmental stressors, including sunlight, blue light, heat and dehydration.
Working in conjunction with the enzymes in the product’s GeneXC Technology are exosomes and a peptide aid for firmness, elasticity and smoothing fine lines while defending from further signs of aging, per a Sept. 9 press release.
Clinical trials show visible improvements in hydration, elasticity and fine lines.Courtesy of iS ClinicalExtremozymes are not new to iS formulations, Clinical Director, Charlene DeHaven said. The extremophilic enzymes live in extreme environments, including heat, cold, dryness, low pH, acidity, salinity and pressure. Through iS’ research, she said, they isolated these plant compounds and discovered that these organisms of adaptation can also be used to protect human skin from this damage.
“iS Clinical draws from the natural selection processes of specialized extremophilic organisms, pioneering the future of skin care in terms of ultimate protection for healthy skin,” DeHaven said.
When determining the hydrator’s efficacy, iS conducted clinical trials reporting 33% of subjects experiencing measurable improvements in hydration, and subjects also recorded 12% improvement in elasticity. Glabellar frown lines exhibiting between the eyebrows decreased by 27% for subjects, while forehead lines and wrinkles reduced by 23%.
On the other hand, periorbital lines, known as crows feet around the eyes, decreased by 17% for subjects. Extremozymes stand out as a potential protecting agent against the environmental stressors that cause and worsen the natural onset of aging, including UV exposure, smoking and environmental pollution—known to promote inflammation of this tissue, leading to the onset of skin disorders and to the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation issues [1].
Recommended for normal, dry, sensitive, compromised or photoaged skin concerned about dehydration, early signs of aging and environmental damage, the hydrator also contains sodium hyaluronate, sunflower extract and glucomannan to increase the skin’s natural moisture barrier. The exosomes in this product are from plankton extract and tripeptide-1 to provide support in reducing moisture losse. Caprooyl Tetrapeptide-3 and two forms of Vitamin B5 can also be found in the complex.
