Univar Solutions is using this year’s NYSCC Suppliers’ Day to showcase a broad portfolio of formulation concepts centered on emerging beauty science trends, urban lifestyle performance and next-generation sun care innovation.
“NYSCC Suppliers' Day has always been where formulation science meets what’s next, and today the future of beauty and personal care is more comprehensive than ever. Innovation isn’t just about novel ingredients; it’s about building formulations that can perform, comply, and scale in a world where supply chains are anything but predictable," says James Peterson, senior vice president, Care, Ingredients + Specialties from Univar Solutions. "Brands are prioritizing multi-functional ingredients, elevated sensory experiences, and partners who bring technical depth and expertise alongside supply‑chain resilience. Distribution also plays a critical role in helping brands stay agile, reduce risk, and keep innovation moving from the lab to the store shelf.”
Presented through its Ingredients + Specialties business, the company’s exhibition focuses on what it describes as “Beauty with Intelligence,” highlighting formulation strategies that connect scientific performance with skin wellness, sensory appeal and consumer-driven product positioning across skin care, sun care, hair care and color cosmetics.
Among the featured launches is the latest Strategic Ingredient Marketing (SIM) Kit concept, titled Intelligence, which explores several of the beauty industry’s fastest-growing areas of interest, including neurocosmetics, microbiome science and sustainability-focused formulation. According to the company, the collection was designed to provide brands with practical formulation inspiration while balancing efficacy claims, sensorial experience and modern dermocosmetic positioning.
The showcase also introduces Inmotion, a new prototype formulation kit focused on the demands of urban beauty and active lifestyles. Developed around the idea that modern formulations must withstand pollution exposure, environmental stress, movement and climate variability, the concept emphasizes adaptive textures and resilient performance systems tailored to increasingly fast-paced consumer routines.
Univar Solutions said the Inmotion collection is specifically designed to support urban skin care positioning, with formulations intended to protect against city-driven environmental aggressors while also delivering elevated textures and expressive sensory experiences. The concept reflects a wider industry movement toward multifunctional products that combine protection, durability and lifestyle-oriented aesthetics.
The Inmotion kit incorporates ingredients from several major supplier partners, including Dow, dsm-firmenich, Syensqo, Advancion and IOI Oleo GmbH. The company said the featured ingredients were selected to support enhanced performance, environmental protection and sensorial differentiation.
Sun care also represents a major focus of the company’s NYSCC presence. Univar Solutions will reveal five new sunscreen formulations developed to demonstrate the performance capabilities of Parsol Shield from dsm-firmenich, a UV filter innovation currently anticipated to receive FDA approval in the United States this summer.
The company described the ingredient as a potentially significant development for the U.S. sunscreen market, where regulatory limitations have historically slowed the introduction of newer-generation UV technologies already used in other global markets. By building prototype formulations around Parsol Shield ahead of anticipated approval, Univar Solutions aims to help brands accelerate product development timelines and prepare for evolving sun care performance expectations.
Collectively, the concepts unveiled at NYSCC underscore how ingredient distributors are increasingly positioning themselves not only as supply chain partners, but also as formulation strategists capable of translating emerging scientific trends into commercially relevant product platforms.
