On March 12, QUAD A (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, inc.) announced they’ve officially launched their Non-Surgical Aesthetic & Wellness (medspa) Accreditation Program for 2026, marking its first venture into the healthcare accreditation and regulatory compliance sector.
Founded in 1980, QUAD A is a non-profit, physician founded and led global accreditation organization that works with thousands of healthcare facilities to standardize and improve the quality of care they provide.
Previously QUAD A primarily focused on ambulatory surgery centers and office-based surgical facilities that performed plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, and other procedures requiring anesthesia. QUAD A’s new venture will hone in on the non-surgical aesthetic and wellness sector, expanding their decades of oversight experience into a new segment of the aesthetic industry that historically operated with far less formal regulation.

QUAD A now joins the likes of The Joint Commission, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, and Accreditation Commission for Health Care, as organizations with the goal of standardizing safety, and quality standards across the growing medical spa industry.
This is especially important today as public discourse has increasingly expressed concern over the risks of patients that frequent unregulated medical spas. A 2023 survey published by ASDSA MedSpa Surveys highlights such safety concerns, stating higher complication rates at medspas compared with physician’s offices. Industry shifts like these offer an opportunity to establish an ethical model of care for the entire industry. With more than 10,000 medspas operating in the U.S. and regulatory oversight varying widely by state, programs like QUAD A’s accreditation program helps fill this regulatory gap.
“Patient safety in outpatient environments has been our foundation since we opened our doors in 1980,” explains Tom Terranova, CEO of QUAD A. “As patient preferences evolve and aesthetic procedures becomeincreasingly commonplace, it is our privilege to champion patient safety and help medspas commit to a higher standard of excellence.”
QUAD A’s medspa Accreditation program will be available on both Facebook and LinkedIn. The campaign reinforces the value of accreditation and ideal for medspa owners, medical directors, practice managers, and management service organizations (MSOs) overseeing medSpas and non-surgical aesthetic practices.
